Kaarsjesavond Candle Night Gouda


The people of Gouda in Holland burn candles at the traditional december candle night ‘Kaarsjesavond’ all over the historic town center, where Adrie Vergeer’s Gouda street organs ‘Pansfluiter’ (Pan whistler) and ‘Het Zonnetje’ (Little Sun) play, and the kids of Music school Gouda. When the candles in the giant tree on the central market square are lit, the Carillon is played by Boudewijn Zwart, and Gouda songs (Als de kaarsjes branden… Gouda stad van …) by Desiree Coumans with John de Heij (guitar) and Nils Davidse (piano) – sound on that freezing cold (-7°C / 19°F) Friday night December 16, 2008 in front of a massive crowd at the town hall in the city center of Gouda , Holland. Mensen in Gouda, bedankt!

A cinema steeped in history … ‘Kriterion’ began life as an Amsterdam student association involved in hiding and saving many Jews (an estimated 400 jewish children (Ref. 2) from Nazi persecution – next in 1945 the students opened cinema Kriterion (Ref. 3) in the former building (until 1942) of the ‘Handwerkers Vriendenkring’ association of mainly Jewish diamond workers – and 75 year later in Kriterion – still runned by the Amsterdam students – last night – arthouse cinema : screening of Beyond Index and post-screening Q&A with filmmaker Gerald Van Der Kaap.

Rodel WeltCup Igls 2007 — FIL World Luge Championships 2007

The FIL World Luge Championships 2007 took place February 2-4, 2007 at the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track (“Olympia Bob-, Rodel und Skeletonbahn”) in Igls (Innsbruck, Tirol, Austria) for the fourth time after having hosted the event before in 1977, 1987, and 1997.
Footage recorded February 3, 2007 from around 13.00 to 16.00 hr, on and off the course – with clips of the “Men’s singles” luge descents from around 15.00-16.00 hr, with one or two clips reordered a few minutes in the final edited film. The short film ends with a slow-motion impression of the action.
That day David Moeller (Germany) won the gold medal, and Armin Zoeggeler (Italy) and Jan Eichhorn (Germany) silver and bronze resp.

Der FIL Rodel-WeltCup 2007 wurde am Februar 2-4, 2007 ausgetragen im
“Olympia Bob-, Rodel und Skeletonbahn Igls” in Igls / Innsbruck, Austria zum vierten Mal nach 1977, 1987, und 1997.
Video Footage aufgenommen 3 Februar 2007 zwischen etwa 13.00 – 16.00 Uhr rund um die Bahn und während die “Einsitzer-Rennen” im Igler Eiskanal – mit Clips von die Rennrodler in Aktion zwischen etwa 15.00 – 16.00 Uhr — mit ein oder zwei Clips rearrangiert im finalen Film. Ein Kurzfilm mit am Ende ein slow-motion Eindruck eine Fahrt.
Rennrodler David Möller (Schalkau) hat diesen Tag den WM-Titel geholt. Südtiroler Armin Zöggeler und der Oberhofer Jan Eichhorn gewannen die Silber- und Bronzemedaille.
