Righteous Medal

Righteous Medal ~ Medal of the Righteous Among the Nations – from the Yad Vashem holocaust center in Israel for the Righteous helping Jews during the Holocaust – with the inscription in French ” The grateful Jewish people” and the French translation of the Jewish saying “Whoever saves a single life, saves an entire universe”.
This medal was minted for Nelly Quintard, a widow in her fifties during the war, who hid the Frankenthal family (Abraham, Esther, and daughter Scheindel) in her home in Brussels, Belgium, from September ’42 until the end of the occupation.

Danse 2000 ~ One Minute of Dance a Day

Danse 2000 ~ One Minute of Dance a Day

Dancing July 5th, starting 11h11 – all together via internet with ZOOM for the 2000th daily dance with the french performance artist Nadia Vadori-Gauthier ( @uneminutededanseparjour #oneminuteofdanceaday ) as part of Nadia’s project ‘One Minute of Dance a Day’ .
Following the Charlie Hebdo attack on January 7, 2015 Nadia Vadori-Gauthier established her project ‘Une minute de danse par jour’ and has been dancing daily ever since january 14, 2015 for a minute or a little more. A daily act of poetic resistance, involving dance and video.
For her 2000th dance she organised this extraordinary event ‘2000 danses pour la danse 2000’ together with Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse.

Nadia’s Motto

…as Nietzsche once said…

« A day without dancing is a day wasted »

Or, more exactly :
“And lost be the day to us in which a measure hath not been danced. And false be every truth which hath not had laughter along with it!” From: Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche in “Thus Spake Zarathustra”.

Nadia’s 2000st dance film

Nadia’s 2000st dance film was publised today July 6 ( 20200706 ) at instagram : @oneminuteofdanceaday | facebook : Une minute de danse par jour @uneminutededanseparjour | and Nadia’s web site : uneminutededanseparjour.com .

We loved it – thank you Nadia , and congrats with your 2000th day of daily dancing.

刹那即永恒 – One Minute is Eternal ~ Book Presentation The One Minutes
Last Tuesday night Jan. 28th 2020, the publication ‘刹那即永恒 – One Minute is Eternal’ was presented by The One Minutes Foundation director Julia van Mourik at ROZENSTRAAT – a rose is a rose is a rose in Amsterdam (NL).

The book presents an eclectic range of propositions with over 500 video stills on how we think through the medium of moving image, and a preface by Wei Shaonong, Dean School of Design, East China Normal University.

“For The One Minutes, a minute is not a conceptual limitation of time, but the beginning of a new world, starting from a minute to discover and explore the infinite possibilities of video art, life and world.” — Wei Shaonong

Artist Talk Gerald van der Kaap’s Beyond Index

Artist Talk Gerald van der Kaap’s Beyond Index
One minute aftermovie of the inspiring intimate tour of the solo exhibition Beyond Index by Gerald van der Kaap screening in the new ROZENSTRAAT art project space hosted by Sjoerd Kloosterhuis , last Tuesday 7 January, during the artist talk of Gerald van der Kaap with film critic Dana Linssen in this six screen installation.
Installation audio was muted during the talk , however audio from a clip taken after the talk is included in this one minute film of my impressions.
Gerald van der Kaap’s original feature film Beyond Index premiered in 2017 and formed the starting point of the 6 channel multimedia remix installation that Kaap developed for his exhibition at Rozenstraat. This is Gerald Van Der Kaap’s first feature – an experimental film made in China in collaboration with cinematographers Yu LIK-WAI and Joewiii – with a soundtrack by Berlin producer duo ÂME.

Rife with historical art references, Beyond Index (2017) follows a group of Chinese art students whose training comprises the precise imitation of classic paintings from the Western canon. This strict adherence to tradition shifts with the arrival of Yves Klein – both a character and a drug. Slowly intoxicated by Yves’ words and the mind-altering color blue, the students undergo an awakening and begin to consider an alternative, less polluted, reality. In an age which often measures art in terms of capitalist productivity, it is vestigated whether art has the power to undermine or destabilize capitalist neoliberal regimes.

Agenda Notes :
